Kenny and Len are the proud owners of Thabile Lodge. We decided to move away from the stresses of the corporate world to enjoy a better quality of life in the countryside. We discovered this farm, nestled in the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains and decided to call it Thabile.... the Sotho word for ‘a place of happiness’.
Kenny, a trained accountant and very much a city boy, has always had a great love for farming, having reared cows and horses for most of his life. Len, a qualified public relations officer, was raised in a small Free State town where he learnt valuable people skills which grew into a career in marketing. Our home was always open to friends and family worldwide and we came to realise that most people enjoyed the experience of ‘farm life’ - Thabile Lodge simply became a natural extension of our home... people will arrive as guests, but they will leave as friends.
Kenny's pride and joy is his Jersey dairy herd - one of the best in the country due to his enthusiasm to improve and perfect the breed. There is also a Brown Swiss herd as well as ostriches on the farm. The latest addition to the farm family is a 'Boerperd' stud - a tough, indigenous breed of horse with a combination of beauty and endurance. Kenny’s talents extend into all things culinary as well from delicious traditional South African dishes to mouth-watering preserves and he’ll soon be churning out cheese from his newly-built cheese dairy.
Len has taken his people skills into the fascinating area of natural healing and is a qualified clinical hypnotherapist, colour therapist and has also studied the fine art of Thai massage. His open and relaxed nature make for a wonderful experience that will set your mind, body and soul at peace.
We are both down-to-earth by nature and we invite you to come and stay and share our farm with us.
